Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below lists the time slots that are reserved - not exams that have been confirmed. Check with your instructor whether or not the final exam for a course will be held during this time period.
Be sure to read the Goethe exam rules and guidelines on each exam's webpage prior to registering. Make sure you register for the appropriate level of exam.
Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams. Please consult individual exam pages for additional guidelines, conditions and guidelines and exam material. If you require special accommodations because of chronic illness, visual or hearing impairment, or any other disability make contact with the exam center and provide a detailed information when you register.
The Faculty Dashboard in Workday offers a "View My Teaching Schedule" which lets faculty discover their exam schedules. In addition the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for classes in which an exam is required by NYSED regulations. For evening classes final exams are scheduled at the regular class time during the final week of exams.

Registration
Students are encouraged to look up the exam schedule online. It is important to keep in mind that the final schedule of exams may change at any time. For this reason, students should consult with their instructors to confirm that they have the correct date and time for their exam. Students should also make sure to print the official list and bring it with them to their exam.
In addition to the exam schedule, students should familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines and terms and conditions. These are on the website for each exam. Students acknowledge having read and accepted the terms and conditions of registration.
Exam locations try their best to accommodate those with special requirements. The nature and degree of these requirements must be declared on the registration form and verified by a doctor's attestation. Additionally the locations for the exam must be kept confidential.

It is possible to have three examinations on the same day. However, this can cause a lot of stress and affect the quality of the exam. The professor may not be able to give a makeup test on another day.
Before taking the test students must prepare by studying their course material and practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test which measures the ability to read, speak and write in German. The results of the exam are reported on a scale of A1 to C2. Students who pass the exam are awarded an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has reached the level of A1 in their language. This level is the first level of the six-level scale of competency laid out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free. Students are required to bring an official government ID to the examination. If they do not present an acceptable photo ID will be disqualified from the exam.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to be awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you'll need to pay the examination fee. This is in addition to the cost of the course.
Practice assessments provide you with an overview of the style, wording and difficulty of the questions on the exam. They can help you evaluate your knowledge, spot gaps and increase your chances of acing the test.
Please note that the examination fee is not refundable. Exam results are only available via email and not by phone.
